Cool down: 10 cool Tips for hot days

Drink, drink, drink – but make the right choices and don't drink all beverages chilled. Mineral water, green tea or other non-caffeinated herbal teas are best. Vegetable or fruit juices should be diluted with water. Try to avoid coffee because coffee promotes fluid loss via the kidneys

No Alcohol: Even if a nice chilled beer or cool glass of white wine feels tempting on a hot summer night – try to abstain from it. Alcohol dilates blood vessels leading to a subsequent decrease of blood pressure und thus circulatory problems.

Let nature cover your skin: Clothes made of cotton, linen, silk or viscose are lightweight and comfortable when the mercury rises.

Fresh meals. Leave hamburger and spare rips alone and make your choice of fresh fruits and salads, fish and white meat.

Small portions. Heat might kill your appetite. But don't go without food for the day and then feed the starving stomach with a huge meal at night. Try to have several small snacks (fruit, yoghurt, vegetable or cheese-sticks) throughout the day.

Be careful with spices. Hot spices are able to even speed up your body's metabolism during wintertime, even more so if it is hot outside. If you are sweating a lot, you might add a little bit more salt to your dishes than usually.

Cool down: If you are in places where there is no air-conditioning or ventilation it helps to put the inner side of your wrists under cold water from time to time.

Stress triggers sweating. Make sure that you relax – with Yoga, Tai Chi or meditation. Some relaxing exercises at night promote better sleep and help you to go completely laid back into the next hot day.
